THE OPPORTUNITY

Job holder shall supervise and control construction projects as well as other civil works within the plant and make sure that they are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with relevant local legislation and Holcim standards.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Projects and New Works:


  • Manage/supervise construction projects, including concrete work, steel structure, walls, roads, buildings and water tunnels. 
  • Design, calculate, and prepare scope of work, bill of material, planning of work, cost estimates, schedules, and budgets for projects. Use design software to create project drawings.
  • Preparing bid documents for road and building projects, calculating quantities, studying the tenders offered and auditing their procedures, contribute to receiving projects and preparing receipt reports.
  • Supervise all construction work on the site, such as digging, lifting, iron and concrete works, foundations, and columns, field follow up and supervise these works personally to ensure that work is being performed safely and according to plans and specifications. Coordinate with contractors, track work progress, prepare material quantity list, Quality assurance, solve technical issues, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage repair and maintenance of infrastructure projects.


Existing Structures & Roads:


  • Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure that designs are safe and efficient. Study the loads on buildings, based on the nature of the facility to be built. Ensure that the structures or civil work meet design specifications and are safe, functional and cost-effective.
  • Prepare material, equipment and labor cost estimates and confirming costs are within the budget maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reports related to infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and projects, including drawings, specifications, and inspection reports.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to plant personnel on civil engineering-related issues, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions to optimize plant performance and efficiency.
  • Design new roads or redesigning existing ones within the plant premises and plant housing compound to accommodate heavy equipment, and ensure safety.


Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering 
  • Minimum of five years in project and construction works or relevant experience in the industrial environment 


SKILLS:

  • Project management 
  • Programs related to project design and planning (Primavera, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Bidding documents preparation
  • Project design
  • Knowledge of math, science, and engineering principles, along with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software, to plan and execute projects
