AtkinsRéalis is seeking a talented BIM Lead Designer (Roads) - T4 to join the Middle East Roads Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the production, review, and coordination of highway design deliverables and BIM models, supporting project teams in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in roads and highways design, BIM workflows, multidisciplinary coordination, and quality assurance, while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and AtkinsRéalis procedures.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review highway deliverables, including roadway layouts, plan and profiles, signs and road markings, kerbs and footways, pavement drawings, setting-out details, typical cross sections, and standard details.
• Independently develop highway drawings and models while providing technical guidance and support to junior team members.
• Review and verify drawings and models prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure all project deliverables undergo appropriate quality checks and are properly documented.
• Manage and maintain the Highways discipline 3D model and conduct regular model quality reviews.
• Work closely with Information Managers and project teams to support interdisciplinary reviews and coordination activities with discipline leads.
• Maintain advanced proficiency in all BIM software platforms and tools utilized by AtkinsRéalis.
• Perform self-checking and participate in technical reviews of team deliverables, ensuring compliance with company and project standards.
• Support the development and implementation of BIM strategies, BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), workflows, and project processes in accordance with Atkins corporate standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads to understand project scope and establish the most effective delivery approach.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure effective design coordination and successful project delivery.
• Lead and actively participate in internal coordination meetings, clash resolution workshops, design integration reviews, and project presentations and reporting activities with Lead Project Offices (LPOs).
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Safety, Environmental, and governance procedures while delivering technically accurate work that meets applicable standards and project requirements.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Diploma from any technical Instituation.
• Minimum of 5+ years of MEA/UAE CAD drafting experience in roads, highways, road signs and markings, and traffic-related projects.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, KeyLINES & SIGNS, Vehicle Tracking, and Navisworks.
• Experience preparing Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP) and Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP) and contributing to BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
• Experience working within Common Data Environments (CDE) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM 360.
• Strong capability in managing and reviewing highway BIM models and project deliverables.
• Experience in multidisciplinary BIM coordination, clash detection, and design integration activities.

 Desired Skills

• Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and local authority requirements within Abu Dhabi.
• Familiarity with international design standards and guidelines, including AASHTO, KSA standards, and QHDM requirements.
• Sound knowledge of BIM processes, model development methodologies, and Level of Development (LOD) requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English.
• Strong leadership, coordination, and mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior designers and support multidisciplinary teams.
