How You’ll Make An ImpactEnvironmental and Social specialist is responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the power plant.Examining corporate activities and establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental and social legislation and IFC requirements across the organization.He will also create, implement and monitor environmental and social strategies to promote sustainable development. Review the whole operation, carrying out environmental audits and assessments, identifying and resolving environmental problems and ensuring necessary changes are implemented.Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans, to ensure corporate sustainable developmentCoordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy, in addition to social aspects as wellLead the implementation of environmental policies and practicesEnsure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with IFC and international regulation and legislationLiaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodiesAudit, analyze and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodiesCarry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization’s environmental risks and financial costsPromote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issuesImplement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arisingDevelop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organization on the environmentCoordinate public hearings and consultations on environmental mattersManage relations with management and internal staffTrain staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilitiesNegotiate environmental service agreements and manage associated costs and revenuesPrepare on time environmental reports, LPR and whatever required reports to cover Siemens, legal and lenders requirementsReport to the plant EHS managerTypical duties may change as circumstances dictateWhat You BringBachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field.A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, and health and safety programs, local laws & IFC requirements.Strong analytical and research skills.Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills1.Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English & Arabic).Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems2.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must understand the concept of management systems in general, and environmental and social management systems in particular.Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.Who is Siemens Energy?At Siemens Energy, we are more than just an energy technology company.
